Kallanai Dam: The dam is built on the river bed of Cauvery River
and it was built in the 19th century by Karikala cholan, a popular
south Indian king, so this place is also considered as a historic place to

Ganesha or Vinayagar is built at the very top of the fort which is very nice to
see from below. It’s a scenic beauty and people who want to see the entire town

images, and better if you visit it in the night, where you can get a pleasant
breeze along with it. (Distance from Trichy central bus stand to Rock fort

The
189.62 carats diamond is believed to be originated from Sri rangam, once when
France was ruling in Tamilnadu, a French soldier disguised himself as a Hindu
convert and stole this peace of extacy in the year 1747

of Tamilnadu. But if you going with your family better go in the day light
since this is a remote area and there are about 30 inhabitants, the nearest town
is Thuraiyur which is about 30 kilometers from this spot. So this is the
nearest hilly area to be visited from Trichy. [Distance from Trichy central bus

the natural breeze.

Mukkombu: This is another Dam which is converted into a tourist
place, by making garden and plantations nearby, once it was a filled with water
all the time and people who travel by the National highways would take a break
visiting this place, take bath, sit and eat and play around with kids, but now
the attraction towards this place has ceased a lot. The reasons being, scarcity
of water, gardens and plantations not maintained, so due to poor maintenance
the number of visitors coming to this place have reduced a lot and another
reason being, people’s exposure, now the earning power of people in Trichy and
Tamilnadu has improved in the last decade which has allowed them to spend more
money on tourism which in turn helped them to explore new places in other
districts and states in India.
